Rejuvenation of Sarasvati River includes finalization and delineation of old route of River Sarasvati and providing perennial flow in the river by constructing water harvesting structures such as Dams Barrage, Reservoirs and Interlinking of Rivers i.e.
Somb Sarasvati Link, Markanda Sarasvati link etc.

More than 70 Central /State organizations are working on this project. MoU with ISRO, GSI, ONGC, NIH etc. has been signed for various Research, Development & Investigations.
A Centre of Excellence on Sarasvati River has also been established at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.

All waste water disposal site along River Sarasvati have been identified and process to stop all such pollution by constructing treatment plants on Seechewal Model is in progress.
Sarasvati Ghats are being developed at various cremation sites on the bank of river. Renovation of 130 number heritage places is also under progress.

HSHDB has organized /organizing International Sarasvati Mahotsav and International Conference on the occasion of Basant Panchmi every year and also organizing exhibitions in various events like Gita Jayanti, Parvasi Bharatiya Divas.

Rejuvenation of Sarasvati River will revive the ancient Sarasvati heritage and underscore the antiquity of the world’s oldest Sarasvati River Civilization, and its heritages to the world.
It also provides flood control and artificial recharging, interlinking of rivers, creation of water bodies and improvement of overall environment.

On this occasion, Hon’ble PM expressed confidence that this Institute will lend a totally new dimension to the art and science of teaching. ‘A teacher is not a resource centre for a student to get information from, he is a catalytic agent for sculpting life’, he said, expressing a firm belief that the initiation of a child into the profession of teaching right after passing standard 12th will ensure the right kind of teachers for shaping a better tomorrow. This will, eventually, regain the respect of teachers in the society. Minister of State for Higher Education, Pro. Vasuben Trivedi lauded the Prime Minister ‘s vision for setting up of IITE and said the institute will be instrumental in positively changing the society’s viewpoint towards the teacher.

Higher Education Commissioner Mrs. Jyanti Ravi, Principal Secretary for Education Mr. Hasmukh Adhiya along with many educationalists were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister also launched the book ‘Child, Teachers and Teacher’s Education’, penned by Dr. Kirit Joshi.

I was appointed two years ago as the VC of IITE. After a year of understanding and strategising the finer issues of teacher education, we have brought in reforms in all sections viz administration, technology, learning, teaching, curriculum etc. of the University. On the next few pages of this Brouchur are glimpses of what changes are taking place in IITE campus at Gandhinagar.

With the launching of the reforms there was a very optimistic mood on the campus of IITE. And the mood is bound to be upbeat, after all in the last one year we at IITE, Gujarat did lot of innovations and are very close to developing a successful model of teacher education. At a time when Institutes of teacher education are loosing sheen, the students at IITE are enjoying working hard, working overtime.
